Harry Redknapp only looking to bring players to White Hart Lane, not let them go
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has today confirmed that both David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas will not be leaving the club before the transfer window shuts on September 1st.
Bentley and Jenas have both been strongly linked with moves away from White Hart Lane in recent weeks, with Aston Villa boss Martin O’Neill understood to be interested in the pair. When asked about the reported interest from Villa, Redknapp had this to say :
“I keep hearing that. I’ve never heard from Martin or anyone else about it. I just think it’s probably a football agent trying to sell one of his players to make some money.”
Meanwhile, one player who Redknapp would love to bring to North London is Portsmouth keeper David James. The England international is desperate to leave Fratton Park before the transfer window shuts due to the much publiced problems on the south coast with regards the take-over of Sulaiman Al Faihim.
Speaking about David James, Redknapp had this to say : “Anyone would want him but I have two keepers and I cannot take another one. If I didn’t have a goalkeeper he would be top of my list.” Although Redknapp has ruled out the possibilty of a new keeper coming in, I personally wouldn’t rule out a move. James is a far better keeper than Heurelho Gomes and I think Spurs would be a much better side with the former Liverpool keeper in goals.
